Online Standard Child Safeguarding Course CET Optics

This course takes an hour to complete and is suitable for all those who work, or volunteer, directly with children, young people, their families and /or carers in all sectors

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course learners will be able to:

Name the key relevant legislation and government guidance relevant to fulfilling the statutory duty of care for the welfare of young patients under the Children Act 2004

Describe appropriately the signs and symptoms of the possible abuse or neglect of the children and young people with whom they come into contact

Explain which individuals, organisations and reference documents they should refer to, and take advice from, if concerned about a child or young person's wellbeing

Be aware of referral pathways and the importance of information-sharing and accurate recording

Describe how to evaluate risk when considering whether or not to request consent to share information about a child or young person with the statutory authorities

To consider issues of best working practice and professional conduct

• How to respond to concerns and what to do in the event of a disclosure
